Jorginho followed Italian tactician Maurizio Sarri from Napoli to Chelsea ahead of the 2018/19 season and tried to live up to his £50million price tag in a problematic opening season at Stamford Bridge.
However, 27-year-old has become a key figure at the start of Frank Lampard’s reign, pulling strings at the base of the centre, while academy products Tammy Abraham and Mason Mount have taken on the responsibility of netting Chelsea’s goals in attack.
Jorginho’s agent, Joao Santos, claims the Italian midfielder has improved under the tutelage of both Lampard and Sarri and believes the transfer to west London came at a perfect time for his client.
‘It has certainly been a positive year for Jorginho,’ he told Radio Sportiva.
‘He is doing well for the Nazionale and can take part in the Euros. He always converts his penalties, I am very happy for him, as he is working so hard every day.
‘Naturally, it was not positive when Giampiero Ventura was the Italy coach, but he has slowly become the first choice in that midfield.
‘It certainly helps that he plays for Chelsea because it’s a very intense style of football in England and he learned a lot from both Maurizio Sarri and Frank Lampard.’
While Santos recommends Jorginho is more than satisfied at the Blues, for the time being, he declined to rule out a return back to Serie A in the future.
‘I think Jorginho can do very well at the Euros and, why not, also at the next World Cup,’ he continued.
‘As for a return to Serie A, anything is possible.
‘He will always feel the desire to come back home.’
