Antonio Conte expects Arsenal contract rebel Alexis Sanchez to remain at the Emirates notwithstanding Manchester City’s massive push to sign the Chilean in January.
Sanchez is out of the deal in the summer, when he can leave the Gunners on a free transfer, but Pep Guardiola is believed to want to pay around £25m to sign him now after Gabriel Jesus suffered a severe injury.
But Conte, who has adored Sanchez in the past, believes Arsenal are likely to hold on to their star man and assumes him to start in Wednesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final.
Ahead of facing the Gunners, the Italian said: ‘I expect to see the best team from Arsenal. I have this expectation to play against the best team.
‘For sure we are talking about a talented player, about a good player. In my opinion, I think Sanchez will finish the season at Arsenal…this is my opinion, I don’t know.
‘I don’t know what will happen during the transfer market this month because every team can rely on the transfer market to improve, to become more strong.
’ Probed on whether Arsenal selling Sanchez would be like Chelsea selling Hazard, he continued: ‘I don’t know.
‘I can speak about my player and, as you know very well, Eden is an important player for us. Eden is pleased to stay here, to work for this club. ‘And we want to try to give satisfaction to our fans. I’m sure about this. For sure, Eden is an important player for us.’
