Antonio Conte refused to be drawn on speculation linking his side with a summer move for Anthony Martial, who has struggled to gain a regular place in Jose Mourinho’s squad since the turn of the year, as the arrival of Alexis Sanchez limited his first-team opportunities.
Frenchman hasn’t scored a Premier League goal since his match-winning effort against Burnley on January 20 and has been linked with a host of top European clubs including the likes of Arsenal and Juventus along with Chelsea.
‘I think this is not the right moment to speak about this, said Conte ahead of Sunday’s must-win Premier League clash against Liverpool. ‘I don’t like to talk about players of other teams this is disrespectful for the players, other players and the other club. Our focus is to finish in the best possible way.’
Conte’s future remains the subject of intense speculation with reports claiming he is ready to take a sabbatical if the club sacks him at the end of the season. The manager answered: ‘My answer is always the same. I have a contract with Chelsea. I am doing my job and my work every day and this is my answer.’
