Arsenal approached 24-year-old La Liga midfielder

According to Spanish news outlet AS, Arsenal have made a move to sign Marcos Llorente from Real Madrid.

The midfielder is set to depart Santiago Bernabeu this summer and is admired by the Gunners and their domestic rivals Manchester United.

Marcos Llorente is understood to be keen on a switch to the Premier League, and Arsenal could be his next destination while Unai Emery appears to be keen on adding to his midfield.

Denis Suarez arrived from Barcelona back in January but flattered to deceive when handed opportunities in the first team.

Recruiting midfielders was very much on the manager’s mind during his first transfer window at Emirates.

Lucas Torreira joined from Sampdoria, and Matteo Guendouzi arrived from French side Lorient.

However, with an imbalance often portrayed by those in the middle third of the pitch, it comes as no surprise to see Unai Emery seemingly weighing up bolstering this area once again, with Marcos Llorente the latest to be touted as a target.

The 24-year-old has struggled to play regularly at Los Blancos this season under Julen Lopetegui, Santiago Solari and Zinedine Zidane.

Marcos Llorente played his best football during a loan spell at Deportivo Alaves back in the 2016/17 season and has struggled to rediscover his impressive form with Real Madrid truly.

Blessed with excellent vision and the ability to play penetrative passes, the Spaniard is well suited to Unai Emery’s style as the midfielder presses intelligently and is capable of contributing to free-flowing moves from defence to the final third.
