The London giants were credited with an interest in Alexander Isak over the summer transfer window but were dealt a big blow. The 21-year-old striker, who impressed for his country over the Euro 2020 competition, put pen to paper on a new long-term deal with La Liga club Real Sociedad to effectively end speculation over a move in the summer window.
However, according to a new report, Isak could still make a move to the PL soon should a club trigger a £77m release clause. Alexander’s new deal with Real Sociedad does not expire until the summer of 2026, but there might not be a lot the La Liga club could do if the clause is met.
The Gunners could be in the transfer market for another centre-forward next summer, with Alexandre Lacazette’s future at Arsenal still unclear. Lacazette now has less than 12 months remaining on his existing deal with Arsenal and is free to talk for foreign teams in the winter transfer window, should an extension not be agreed before then.
Lacazette has played only two games in all tournaments for the Gunners so far this campaign, with just one coming in the PL. The French striker was an unused substitute in Arsenal’s recent 1-0 victory over Norwich City on Saturday afternoon, with goalscorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leading the line.
