The London giants are showing an interest in Evan N’Dicka. The Eintracht Frankfurt defender has been a solid performer for the Bundesliga side and could cost nearly €30m if Arsenal make an approach. Gunners started off the current transfer window looking at footballers suitable for many positions.
Central defence, in particular, wasn’t thought of as a priority area, but Arsenal did end up agreeing a £50m deal with Brighton for centre-back Ben White. In general, the Gunners are well-stocked at the defence.
Gabriel, Pablo Mari, Rob Holding and now Ben are all possibly available when the campaign starts, and there isn’t an immediate requirement to bring in new footballers. The need to sign Ben emerged when the Spanish coach decided to send young French centre-back William Saliba out on another loan spell to develop further.
Saliba joined Marseille on a season-long loan deal and is expected to play at the London club next campaign. However, Mikel Arteta could strengthen the left side of the central defence with the long-term future in his mind. N’Dicka’s name is now linked, and it could be that a future move might be on the cards.
It would be unrealistic for the Gunners to spend nearly €30m of their tight transfer budget on a prospect. Frankfurt are demanding that amount considering his displays in the Bundesliga since signing up back in 2018.
The French defender has played over 20 matches in each of his last three campaigns, becoming a key member. Gunners interest first stemmed after last January, with Mikel Arteta drawing up his plans for the current window.
