Arsenal forward desperate to win over Unai Emery’s faith

Reiss Nelson insists he is ready to fight for his spot at Emirates and does not want to go back out on loan next year.

The winger spent last campaign with Hoffenheim and impressed during his loan spell in Bundesliga. Unai Emery has just £45 million to spend this summer and often relied on wing-backs Sead Kolasinac and Ainsley Maitland-Niles for width last season.

German club would like to keep Reiss Nelson, while he would not be short on offers from other sides. However, the teenager says he’s ‘Arsenal through and through’ and feels he’s ready to return to the London club.

Asked if he would improve in Germany, the 19-year-old replied: ‘One hundred per cent. I learned a lot of stuff. I made a lot of friends, and also I made a good connection with the managers.

‘They taught me a lot of stuff that I can take on in my career. It was difficult, leaving, but Arsenal are my team and I want to go back to Arsenal and play.’

‘I am Arsenal through and through. I support Arsenal. All my family support Arsenal. ‘That’s an interaction I have with the fans. It’s a good thing. They support a lot of the young talent coming up through Arsenal. It’s good.’

The Gunners are closing in on a deal for Celtic ace Kieran Tierney and are readying to submit an improved bid of around £18 million for the Scotland international.

Unai Emery has no intention of cashing in on Lucas Torreira, despite interest from AC Milan.
