Arsenal given green light to sign 20-year-old Hungary international

Dominik Szoboszlai’s agent has confirmed that the attacker is on the verge of leaving Salzburg amid strong interest from the likes of Arsenal, Real Madrid, Napoli and Leipzig, but insists the guarantee of regular game time is the ‘most important thing’ for his client.

The 20-year-old midfielder has had a barnstorming start to the campaign for both club and country and is regarded as one of the finest teenagers in European football.

Gunners failed in their pursuit of Lyon and France attacker Houssem Aouar in the summer transfer window but are still keen to bolster in the middle of the park and have identified Dominik as one of their top targets.

And while RB Salzburg’s sister club, RB Leipzig, are firm favorites to land Szoboszlai, it’s understood an offer of nearly €25m from the Gunners could be enough to get a deal over the line.

Asked about the recent speculation, Hungary international representative Esterhazy Matyas said: ‘We’re seeing that every time he has a good game, which fortunately is happening quite often, the rumors are getting stronger. However, our strategy isn’t going to change because of one or two games.’

‘We have belief in our own plans and the vision we had originally is only getting stronger because all of the comments we are reading only prove that we are on the right path.’

Matyas admitted the Hungarian midfielder was edging closer to a big move but stressed that possible suitors must be able to offer the teenager regular minutes so that his development does not suffer. Last week, Matyas rubbished rumors that RB Leipzig had wrapped up an agreement for the Salzburg midfielder.
