Freiburg director Jochen Saier has responded to rumours that Caglar Soyuncu is on the verge of joining Arsenal. The 21-year-old is considered as one of the best young defenders in the Bundesliga and the Turkish is heavily linked with a move to Emirates in the summer transfer window. Mehmet Ozkan, the president of Soyuncu’s former club Altinordu, claimed that the centre-back is set to join the Gunners, but Freiburg have poured cold water on the speculation.
Freiburg chief Saier told Bild: ‘Ozkan can know little about the overall scenario. ‘This is total nonsense. Arsenal did not contact me and there is no offer.’ Ozkan claimed earlier this week that Bayern Munich were also interested in Turkey international but the defender will sign for Arsenal. Speaking at the International Football Economic Forum, Ozkan said: ‘Caglar Soyuncu is set to join Arsenal.
‘Arsenal demanded his youth information from us. We’ll earn from him if he joins Arsenal. ‘Bayern Munich wants him too, but he’s on the way to the Premier League.’
The starlet is developing his game and would be a great addition to Premier League side, as they struggle in defence.
