Inter Milan are considering offering Christian Eriksen to the London club as part of their offer to add Lucas Torreira, according to reports in Italy. The Nerazzurri are actively looking to offload Christian this month as the attacker has failed to make an impact following his £17m move from Tottenham a year ago.
As well as being open to a permanent deal, Serie A giants are also understood to be willing to let Eriksen leave on loan for the remainder of the campaign. Antonio Conte has asked the Nerazzurri’s hierarchy to sign a defensive midfielder this month and Uruguay international is being considered.
And the report claims that the Italian club are open to using Denmark international in their efforts to land Lucas from the Gunners. Torreira is currently spending the campaign on loan at Atletico Madrid but he has struggled to secure a regular role under Diego Simeone and has started only two matches in Spain.
Gunners have threatened to cancel the Uruguayan midfielder’s loan as the player has attracted interest from several teams this month. Arsenal’s technical director, Edu, revealed this week that he will consult with Lucas over his situation at Atletico and indicated that the player’s time with the Los Rojiblancos could end if he is unhappy.
Speaking earlier this week, Torreira’s agent, Pablo Bentancur, insisted that the Nerazzurri had not made an approach for the footballer. ‘I’ve had no contact from Inter for Torreira,’ Bentancur said.
Gunners, meanwhile, are in the market for a playmaker with Real Madrid’s Martin Odegaard and Norwich City’s Emiliano Buendia both under consideration.
