Arsenal in advanced talks with €50m-rated Brazil international

Gabriel Jesus will sign a five-year contract with Arsenal and is expected to arrive in England this week to undergo medicals and other formalities. Arsenal have reached a full agreement with the Man City centre-forward over a £45m move. Gabriel Jesus will become Arsenal’s fourth summer signing after Marquinhos, Fabio Vieira, and shot-stopper Matt Turner.

The Gunners have secured their primary target this summer, as Brazil international is only some time away from signing his deal with Arsenal. After discussing the transfer for weeks, Arsenal reached an agreement for Jesus, who will strengthen the Spanish manager’s striker options.

The Gunners had been in the market for a new centre-forward, and early reports indicated Gabriel was their priority target. Other names like Osimhen, Nunez, and Calvert-Lewin were linked, but the Spanish manager only had eyes for the 25-year-old centre-forward.

The Gunners reached an agreement with Man City late last week over a fee, with Arsenal expected to pay £45m for the Brazilian striker. The Brazilian has been inclined to leave the Etihad Stadium after the arrivals of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez, which threatened to put his place in the club at risk.

The South American centre-forward was reportedly pushing for a move to Arsenal, despite other clubs present in the race to sign him. His past relationship with the Spanish manager from Mikel Arteta’s stint with Man City and technical director Edu Gaspar with the Brazilian national team helped the Gunners pursue the centre-forward.
