Lazio midfield star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic is reportedly keen to turn down interest from Arsenal and join Manchester United ahead of the 2022/23 season.

The 27-year-old’s future has been the subject of much speculation over the recent months, with a number of top European teams are believed to be showing an interest in the Serbia international.

Arsenal and Man United have recently been credited with an interest in the midfielder, while there have been reports that Newcastle United could also planning to break the bank for the Lazio midfielder.

According to Tuttosport, the Serbian is interested in joining Man Utd this summer and would pick them over the likes of Newcastle and Arsenal.

The report suggests that Lazio are yet to receive any official offers for the playmaker, however, the Red Devils are likely to make a move if they decide to give up on De Jong, who is still battling to stay at Barcelona.

Milinkovic-Savic was again in strong form for Lazio during the 2021-22 season, founding back of the net 11 times and providing 12 assists in 47 games in all competitions.

Meanwhile, he has scored 58 goals and provided 51 assists in 294 games for his Italian team since arriving from Genk in August 2015.

The midfielder only has little over two years left to run on his deal in Rome, and Lazio president Claudio Lotito believed earlier this year that “an important proposal from a world-class team” would be considered.

“Milinkovic is not for sale. I turned down €140m (£120m) bid for him [years ago]”, Lotito told Rai Sport. “I’d ask Sergej what he wants to do only in case we receive an important proposal from a world-class top club.”
