The London giants are intent on breathing new life into their tea, in the upcoming summer transfer window, and with that in mind, they are set to splash the cash on Max Aarons.
The Norwich City defender has been identified as their desired replacement for Hector Bellerin, who is likely to be offloaded in the summer, as part of the Spanish manager’s massive squad overhaul.
It appears Mikel Arteta has been left frustrated by Hector’s inconsistent displays and a noticeable dip in his fitness over the past few years. He has, in fact, fallen behind the pecking order in the current Gunners setup, with the Spanish manager often preferring Calum Chambers in recent weeks.
The addition of Max, in that regard, should serve as a breath of fresh air for Arsenal as they look to reshape their defensive unit. Aarons is highly coveted due to his success with the Norwich City side over the past three campaigns.
The 21-year-old defender has, in fact, notched up 128 competitive games for Norwich, starring in both their promotion seasons in 2018/19 and 2020/21 respectively while also making quite an impression in the PL last campaign. His move to Arsenal, however, could hinge on the Gunners luck in the transfer market.
As a result of which, the English defender was strongly linked with an exit from Norwich last summer, but a move did not materialise. This time around, Aarons will be determined to seek a big-money move and perform well in the PL, in an attempt to make himself an option for Gareth Southgate for next year’s FIFA World Cup.
