Arsenal in the hunt to sign €20m-rated Premiership striker

The London giants are targeting Celtic centre-forward Odsonne Edouard as a possible replacement for Alexandre Lacazette, according to reports. Last month, reports claimed that Leicester City felt they had won the race to sign the French centre-forward, with a £15m deal close to being reached with the Hoops.

The Gunners have been monitoring Odsonne for well over a year and had been considering a move for the centre-forward, who will have just one year remaining on his deal with the Hoops this summer. Gunners have not given up hope of signing Edouard and are considering him as a replacement for Alexandre Lacazette.

Alexandre will also have only one year remaining on his deal this summer, and Gunners are ready to make a decision over whether the striker will be sold or given a contract extension. Foxes, however, believe they are in a strong position to sign Odsonne as Brendan Rodgers has already managed the striker during their time together at Celtic.

The 23-year-old striker has an impressive scoring record since joining Celtic from PSG in 2017, with 81 goals in 163 games. Speaking last month, Celtic legend Lubo Moravcik warned the French striker that he needs to consider the amount of game time he will get if he makes the move to the PL this summer.

‘I have watched a lot of Odsonne,’ Moravcik said. ‘There was a point a few months ago when I felt I was talking about him to everybody. France were in the same group as Slovakia so I saw that game and a lot of the French games. He was really impressive. He is a very talented player. But for any player, wherever he goes next he will want to play.’
