Arsenal have reignited their interest in securing the services of midfielder Manuel Locatelli who currently plays for Juventus. The 24-year-old midfielder was a crucial cog in Roberto Mancini’s Euro 2020 winning side and earned himself a high-profile move to the Bianconeri last summer.
While he has had his moments, Manuel has struggled to take the league by storm with the Old Lady. One club who have been a long-term admirer of Locatelli is the Gunners. The London giants missed out on Italy international last year but, do not appear to have given up hopes of landing the midfielder.
Massimiliano Allegri stays unconvinced by the Italian midfielder, and this could pave for a move to Arsenal in the upcoming transfer windows. The Spanish manager has a crop of excellent young midfielders in Odegaard, Saka and Smith Rowe.
While the arrival of Fabio Vieira offers the London giants more dynamism going forward, they lack a reliable option that can play a defensive role and anchor the midfield. Partey hasn’t quite lived up to expectations, while Xhaka is prone to Jekyll and Hyde displays.
The Gunners have looked like a real force this campaign and appear to have finally got going under Mikel Arteta. Should the Spanish manager get it right, he has a young, exciting squad capable of achieving much. The Italian will offer the experience needed for such a side to find its bearings and could lay the foundations for a thrilling team.
