The London club are reportedly eyeing a move for talented Dijon winger Mounir Chouiar but face contest from both Wolverhampton Wanderers and PL new-boys Leeds United. U21 France international is being considered as a summer transfer option by PL trio Wolves, Leeds United and the Gunners.
Mounir joined the French club from domestic rivals Lens year ago in a move costing £4m and has since gone onto play 26 games in all tournaments, scoring six goals and providing one assist. The report claims that Chouiar who mostly features on the left-side of an attack will be available for £19m.
The summer transfer window is due to slam shut on October 5 and teams will be hoping to secure their targets as soon as possible with the PL’s matchday two scheduled to kick-off on September 19. Gunners second PL match is at home against struggling Hammers next weekend.
The London giants started their campaign with a dominating league opener with Fulham yesterday. Arsenal became to the first side in this campaign’s top-flight to register three points in the league table after thumping newly-promoted Fulham 3-0 yesterday.
The 21-year-old winger’s been a regular for France at various youth levels and he can play on either flank, while he also enjoyed an excellent breakthrough campaign last year before the season was ended early.
It’s a name that might not register with a lot of supporters and he could even be seen as a developmental signing, but it’s absolutely worth keeping an eye on his story next week to see if he does leave.
