Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar has downplayed speculation linking him with the London giants. The 23-year-old midfielder was a target for the Spanish manager last summer, with Arsenal shortlisting the footballer as a target in creative midfield.
Martin Odegaard had returned to Real Madrid, and Los Blancos were playing hardball over their £45m asking price, while the Foxes made it clear that they had no intention of allowing James Maddison to leave. The Gunners would eventually sign Martin Odegaard, but Mikel Arteta stays keen to add more flair to his frontline after the departure of Willian Borges.
However, Houssem has suggested his future stays in Lyon as he ‘dreams’ of playing UCL football with his hometown club. ‘As someone who’s from Lyon, to be able to play in the UCL in this stadium is something I’d like to be able to do again, all of that is down to qualifying this season,’ said France international.
‘Then I’d like to win a trophy because that’s what’s missing the most for me at this club.’ ‘I’m fully concentrated on Lyon. Playing in the Champions League again with my hometown club is an objective and a dream of mine.’
The London giants picked up their first points of the campaign after a 1-0 victory over Norwich City at the Emirates on the weekend. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netted from close range to see off the Canaries and to take Arsenal off from the bottom of the PL table.
