Inter Milan are willing to offer Christian Eriksen to the London giants in a swap deal for Granit Xhaka, according to reports in Italy. Denmark international has struggled to secure a regular role under Antonio Conte since he made the £17m move from Tottenham to the Nerazzurri in winter.
Antonio Conte is keen to strengthen his midfield options and his priority target has been N’Golo Kante, but Chelsea refused to sell France international in the summer. The Nerazzurri’s hierarchy are now considering alternatives to Kante and Xhaka is on their shortlist ahead of the upcoming window.
The report claims that the Serie A giants already have intermediaries working behind the scenes to gauge Gunners interest and find out if the PL club would be willing to sign Eriksen and lose Xhaka. The Danish attacker has already made it clear that he would be open to leaving the Nerazzurri in winter.
‘This isn’t what I dreamed of,’ Christian said. ‘All players want to play as much as possible, but the coach decides who gets to go on the pitch. It is a strange situation, as the fans want to see me playing more and so would I, but the coach has different ideas and as a player, I have to respect that.’
Granit, meanwhile, looked set to leave the London club a year ago after he swore at fans during a 2-2 draw at home to Crystal Palace last season. But the Swiss midfielder, who had the captaincy taken away from him over his clash with the fans, has credited the Spanish tactician for convincing him to remain at the Emirates Stadium.
