Arsenal plotting move for 19-year-old Argentine midfielder

Dubbed as the next big thing to come out of Racing Club after Lautaro Martinez, Carlos Alcaraz has become one of the most sought-after teenagers in his native Argentine, with a host of top teams around Europe keen on acquiring his services.

Tottenham and Arsenal are among the teams keeping close tabs on Carlos’ progress in Argentina. Many want to rope the midfielder to Europe in the coming summer, although Racing have no intention to offload their midfielder just yet and are currently holding out for a figure of nearly €20m, even though Alcaraz has a higher release clause of €25m.

It is quite a fortune for a footballer who has featured in only 58 competitive games for Racing. But his lack of experience can be deceiving as the midfielder has shown tremendous maturity, composure and technical ability for a footballer of his age.

A central midfielder by trade, the Argentine midfielder is indeed a technically astute footballer who has natural attacking instincts. With eight goals and six assists in his 58 competitive games, the South American midfielder offers excellent productivity for a midfielder, which is barely surprising as Carlos can operate in several positions.

Carlos is capable of featuring as a wide midfielder and even as a number ten. His versatility, coupled with his technical prowess, have not gone unnoticed, with the Gunners, in particular, keeping close tabs on his situation. It appears Arsenal are eyeing a summer swoop for the 19-year-old midfielder in light of the club’s lack of depth in midfield.
