Arsenal told to pay £25m for Belgian forward

Arsenal will have to pay £25 million for Yannick Carrasco after his side Dalian Yifang set their price for the 25-year-old, who has been on the Gunners’ radar since January

The Belgium international almost joined the Premier League club on loan before Unai Emery switched his attention to Denis Suarez instead. Barcelona star’s failure to make an impression in London means that they have revisited a potential move for Yannick Carrasco and they made an enquiry about taking the attacker on loan with an option to buy.

Dalian Yifang are set to loan Carrasco out and would rather sell to reinvest the funds on securing a replacement.

The winger is said to be earning approximately £170,000 per week but is understood to be willing to lower his wage demands to secure a return to Europe. Last week, Carrasco confirmed his intention to leave.

Unai Emery’s desire to improve his team this window has been made more difficult due to the restrictive budget, which is understood to be between £40-45m.

Consequently, the Gunners are exploring ways to pay for Yannick Carrasco, which could include large payments over some time or including various performance related add-ons in the deal.

The Belgium international previously played for AS Monaco and Atletico Madrid before his move to China and famously netted in the 2016 Champions League final against Real Madrid.

Unai Emery is willing to add a goalscoring winger to his ranks as Henrikh Mkhitaryan was Arsenal’s next-top goalscorer behind Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette.
