Barcelona in the battle for £110,000-a-week Arsenal star

Hector Bellerin is the subject of interest from Barcelona over a potential move in the summer transfer window. The Blaugrana have identified Arsenal right-back as a possible alternative for Azpilicueta, who might stay at Chelsea in the 2022/23 campaign.

Spain international spent most of his formative years with the Catalan giants before graduating from the Gunners academy nearly a decade ago. Bellerin has endured a topsy turvy ride at Arsenal since then. While Hector showcased the quality to be an Arsenal great, injuries and poor form have impacted his status at the London club.

The 27-year-old defender spent the 2021/22 campaign on loan at Real Betis, providing five assists in 32 matches for the La Liga giants. The Spanish right-back is now back at Emirates but wants to depart from Arsenal, with Real Betis his preferred destination. However, Barca could provide the Spaniard with an alternative option this summer.

The Blaugrana want to sign a right-back this summer following the departure of Dani Alves. The Brazilian defender’s exit has left Xavi with Roberto and Dest as his right-back options. But while Roberto has regressed considerably in the last few years, Dest faces an uncertain future at Camp Nou.

The Spanish right-back might be a solid option for the Blaugrana as he has La Liga experience and can provide the prime years of his career to them. But with Hector pushing to join Real Betis, the Blaugrana will have an uphill task to convince Bellerin to return to Catalonia instead of moving to the Benito Villamarin Stadium.
