Manchester United are reportedly ready to rival Liverpool on Benfica forward Carlos Vinicius ahead of a possible move this summer.

Man Utd head-coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is known to have made signing a new striker one of his top target for the upcoming transfer window, having failed to bring in a long-term replacement for Romelu Lukaku since he departed from the club last summer.

A whole host of forward have been named as possible transfer targets, including current loanee Odion Ighalo, and Portuguese outlet A Bola claims that Vinicius is being considered as another option.

The 25-year-old forward has managed to found back of the net 15 times this campaign, while also providing seven assists in just 22 games in the Portugues top-tier.

The Red Devils fiercest domestic rivals Liverpool, in addition to Wolves, have also been credited with strong interest in Vinicius, though, while his current release clause €100m (£87.7m) would be another major stumbling block for this teams to lure him away from Estádio Sport Lisboa e Benfica.

The 20-times English champions want to bring in a new forward, midfielder and winger when the transfer window will be re-opened in the summer. Still, they already face an outlay of more than £150m if they are to sign their top transfer targets – Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish – in the other two positions.
