Philippe Coutinho hinted that he is open to a move away from Camp Nou in the future.
The Brazilian midfielder has been the subject of intense transfer speculation in recent months, with Manchester United interested in signing him.
Coutinho left Liverpool to join the Spanish champions just over a year ago, but so far has failed to continue his progress at Barcelona. The versatile attacker was on target for Barcelona in their 5-1 thrashing of Lyon in the Champions League, netting his first goal since January.
Several Barcelona players have offered their backing to Coutinho, but the Brazil international fuelled speculation with his comments after the victory on Wednesday night.
He said: ‘In the last few weeks, months even, I’ve not been playing well. But I still want to improve. ‘I came to Barcelona to give my best. I live for the moment. You never know what the future holds. I am happy with my performance today.’
Barcelona’s win over Lyon assured them safe passage into the quarter-finals of the Champions League, and 26-year-old star could be drawn against his former side, Liverpool.
The Merseysiders beat Bayern Munich 3-1 comfortably in their Champions League match and joined Manchester City, Manchester United, Tottenham, Porto, Ajax and Juventus in the last eight of the competition.
Lionel Messi enjoyed another superb performance for his side as he scored twice and provided two assists in the thrashing of French team after Cristiano Ronaldo led Juventus with the stellar display against Atletico Madrid with the Portuguese scoring three goals for the Italian side.
