Championship clubs in the battle for 23-year-old Liverpool defender

Several Championship teams are interested in signing the Merseyside giants centre-back Nathaniel Phillips before the domestic transfer deadline on Friday. The 23-year-old defender, who goes by Nat, has reportedly caught the eye of a host of teams in the second-tier, including Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough.

Nathaniel is coming off the back of the first loan spell of his career, with the centre-back spending last campaign on loan at Stuttgart, helping them on the way to promotion to the Bundesliga. Phillips played 22 matches across all tournaments for the German club.

Having the chance to test himself in the Championship would be a great chance for the Englishman, as a successful spell in the second-tier would really take Nathaniel’s professional career to the next level.

Phillips made his senior debut for Reds in last campaign’s shock FA Cup victory over cross-town rivals Everton, the Merseyside giants managed to see off their neighbours despite fielding a side full of teenagers.

At 23 years of age, Harry Wilson, of course, needs to round off some other areas of his game, but we think he’d be one of the best players in the Championship if he manages to seal a move before the deadline.

Harry’s only outing for Liverpool this campaign came in the Carabao Cup tie against Arsenal, with the forward playing the entire 90 minutes before Reds were knocked out on penalties.

Reds will take no risks with Keita, and it looks likely he will be tested again to ensure his involvement against the Toffees would be safe (and legal).
