Chelsea 27-year-old defender could leave ahead of the next campaign

Chelsea will consider offers for Italian defender Davide Zappacosta this summer, according to a Calcio Mercato reports

The Italian news reports that the Blues will entertain bids for the full-back who could be one of three Italians to depart from the Stamford Bridge this summer after Maurizio Sarri quit from the club for Juventus and Gianfranco Zola has been the next one.

The 27-year-old defender has signed for the West London club from Torino back in a £22.5 million deal by Antonio Conte who has been in charge at that time.

However, the full-back has failed to force his way into the starting XI ahead of Caesar Azpilicueta and has been forced to play a key role, playing only 26 Premier League games.

Now it seems the West London club are ready to cut their losses with a 27-year-old defender and move him on ahead of the 2019/20 season, despite a transfer ban meaning they won’t be able to sign his replacement this season.

The 13-time Italian international has been rumoured with a move back to Serie A with AS Roma are believed to be frontrunners to secure his services.

Meanwhile, Atalanta have extended the loan spell of Chelsea midfielder Mario Pasalic this summer after failing to negotiate a lower the transfer fee to secure the services of the midfielder permanently.

The Serie A outfits had the option to buy the Croatian for €15million due to a clause in the loan deal, however, were said to be hoping to negotiate a lower fee with the West London club in their attempts to secure the services of the midfielder on a permanent deal.

However, according to Football Italia via La Gazzetta dello Sport, the West London club have agreed to loan Pasalic to Serie A outfits for a second campaign rather than insist the Serie A club pay the €15million fee.
