Chelsea complete signing of €30m-rated Spanish left-back

Chelsea are holding negotiations with Brighton to add Marc Cucurella, as the German coach targets the defender as a priority signing. Spain international was strongly linked with Man City, but the Blues could look to close a deal fast. Thomas Tuchel has been looking for a new defender after being rejected by the likes of de Ligt and Jules Kounde.

In a sensational transfer twist, the London club entered into negotiations with the Seagulls in a bid to hijack a move for Cucurella. After initiating urgent discussions for Marc, Chelsea are now stepping up their pursuit of the former Barcelona defender.

The 24-year-old defender has been the top defensive target for Man City for a considerable time, although Brighton are not willing to accept the terms offered by the PL champions. However, with ambitions to play for a big club, the Spanish left-back handed in a transfer request in the last few days.

The decision had no bearing on the Seagulls’ stance, who stand firm on their £50m valuation of the Spaniard. However, Man City are unwilling to offer beyond £40m, which has reportedly led to a breakdown in negotiations between the two teams.

The Blues are confident of convincing Marc over a move to Chelsea. The London giants want to conclude a deal as quickly as possible to avoid further complications and end their hoodoo in this transfer window. Marc could become the Blues’ third major signing this summer after the arrivals of Koulibaly and Sterling.
