According to the Daily Star, Chelsea have promised their head-coach Frank Lampard a transfer budget of £150m in the summer.
The report adds that Frank Lampard is eyeing the additions of a new goalkeeper, centre-back, left-back and a holding midfielder this summer.
Given some of the massive transfer fees football has seen in recent years, especially the rising costs of centre-back and goalkeepers, it may be a bit of a stretch for the Blues head-coach to strengthen in every area he is keen on for such a small budget around £150m.
It seems bad taste that transfer links are still being widely reported with football – and more importantly the entire world in a state of crisis following to the Coronavirus outbreak.
Whilst it’s surprising to see that teams’ transfers are still being heavily discussed by the reports from England, they wonder what else teams have to work on with the sport being brought to a halt.
With Premier League stars – with the rest of us non-essential workers, training from home, some teams may have plenty of time on their hands to analyse and hold preliminary transfer talks for potential targets in the summer.
With most major football leagues suspended indefinitely following to Covid-19, this summer’s transfer window could be pushed back.
