Chelsea determined to sign 24-year-old France international

The London giants are set to make a push to add Theo Hernandez from Milan in the winter transfer window and are willing to pay €45m for his services. Having come through the youth ranks at Atletico Madrid, France international made a controversial switch to local rivals Real Madrid in 2017 after impressing on a loan spell at Elche.

However, Hernandez was hardly afforded any game time at Real Madrid by Zinedine Zidane in his debut campaign. After spending the 2018/19 season out on loan at Real Sociedad, Theo was offloaded permanently in 2019 to Milan, and the move has worked out great for the defender.

The 24-year-old defender has been a top performer for Milan over the past two years or so, playing a crucial role in their rise back to prominence in Italian football. To date, the French defender has played 101 games for the Rossoneri, bagging 17 goals and 18 assists, impressing the onlookers with his attacking capabilities.

Capped four times by the Les Bleus, the Frenchman has now popped up on the radars of the Blues. Chelsea are left short-handed in the left-back department heading into the new year as Ben Chilwell is ruled out for the campaign due to a serious knee injury that will need surgery.

Alonso has done fairly well in the absence of the Englishman, but the Spanish defender stays a defensive liability, while he is also attracting interest from Serie A.
