The London giants are looking at Bayern Munich’s prolific goalscorer Robert Lewandowski as a possible transfer target ahead of the upcoming summer window. Poland international is without a doubt one of the best strikers of the current era.
Lewandowski has been plundering goals for fun throughout his stint in Bundesliga, first with Borussia Dortmund and then with Bayern Munich. Robert has amassed a whopping tally of 289 goals and 64 assists from 329 games for Die Roten since joining them on a free transfer in the summer of 2014.
The 2020/21 season has been another fruitful one for the 32-year-old striker as he has produced a stunning return of 43 goals and 8 assists from only 37 matches in all tournaments. The Polish star could also be set to break the 40-goal record in a single Bundesliga campaign set by the legendary Gerd Muller, having already managed 36 goals in 26 league games.
Throughout his stint at Bayern, Robert has been linked with other top clubs from across Europe but he has stayed put and continued in his merry goalscoring ways at Bayern Munich. Heading into the next summer transfer window, it is the Blues who have seemingly set their sights on the prolific striker as they look to strengthen their front-line.
Lewandowski is contracted with Bayern Munich till 2023 and it is unlikely that they would want to part ways with their ace goalscorer in a summer of transition when they are already losing experienced players like Jerome Boateng and David Alaba, while a new coach, Julian Nagelsmann, is also set to take over the reins at the club.
