Chelsea have a shortlist of players of whom they are rumoured to be looking at joining when they are eventually able to enter the market again.
This might be in the winter, or it might be next summer – this depends on today’s transfer ban appeal at The Court of Arbitration for Sport.
No verdict will be heard today, but it will come before the transfer window opens in January, and the Blues will already be making preparations.
One player who has been quietly linked with Frank Lampard’s side is Brazilian Bruno Guimarães from Athletico Paranaenset. The player has declined to renew his deal with Paranaense, with whom he has a contract until 2023.
He is said to be a technical player, with the ability to join the attack and, above all, a great interpretation of the game – with his breaking up of play highly valued.
The 22-year old midfielder is a target for Atletico Madrid, who have the advantage due to having the priority to buy Guimarães, which was agreed when the club joined Renan Lodi from Athletico Paranaense last summer.
If Chelsea really want him, they will have to work fast on this one!
