Chelsea given green light to sign 25-year-old Ivorian midfielder

Tottenham are preparing a contract offer for Milan midfielder Franck Kessie but will face competition from PL rivals Chelsea, Liverpool and Man United, all of whom have made contact with the footballer’s agent.

Ivory Coast international has grown into one of the best midfielders on show in Italy since his move to Milan from Atalanta in 2017. Having initially arrived on a two-year loan deal, Kessie joined Milan permanently in the summer of 2019 and has turned out 205 times for the Rossoneri, in the process scoring producing a return of 35 goals and 16 assists.

Franck enjoyed his career-best campaign in 2020/21 as the Rossoneri finished as the runners-up in Serie A, and he has made a solid enough start to the ongoing season, already netting five goals in 16 league games.

However, his future at Milan has been cast into major doubts as the 25-year-old midfielder will be out of the deal at the end of the campaign. The Rossoneri have tried to convince the Ivorian midfielder to prolong his stay in Lombardy, but their deal offers have not met the footballer’s demands.

The situation has attracted interest from teams around Europe. PSG and Real Madrid are believed to be in talks to sign him. A plethora of clubs from England are also in the picture to sign the African midfielder, with Chelsea, Liverpool, Man United and Tottenham keen.

The report mentioned above claims that the Blues have already contacted the former Atalanta midfielder’s representatives to explore the possibility of a Bosman move at the end of the campaign.
