Despite London club being increasingly confident of signing Ben Chilwell this summer, Chelsea have identified Marc Cucurella as a possible alternative option.
Leicester City would likely demand a fee similar to the one that took Harry Maguire to Man United last summer for left-back England international. Marc Cucurella, who is on loan at Getafe from Blaugrana, will leave the Catalan club in a pre-agreed permanent deal to Getafe this summer.
Once Marc’s permanent switch is sealed, the ace’s release clause at Getafe would reportedly be £23m, this could be a quality move for the London giants if they baulk at Ben Chilwell’s asking price.
The Spanish midfielder is capable of playing at either full-back or at left-midfield, Cucurella’s wing-back style could be a perfect fit for Blues system. The 21-year-old midfielder has five assists and a goal to his name from 26 games for Getafe in La Liga this campaign.
Marc has impressed during his spell away from Barcelona, scoring once and providing five assists in 34 games across all tournaments. Marca report that this form has prompted Getafe to take up their €6m option on the Spaniard, who can also play as a left-sided defender.
London club had supposedly identified Marc Cucurella as a possible back-up if they fail to sign Ben Chilwell or Alex Telles in the summer transfer window.
