Chelsea are reportedly one of the clubs chasing the possible transfer of Inter Milan star Romelu Lukaku, along with big names such as Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich. Romelu has been in impressive form since leaving Man United for Inter Milan, scoring a fantastic 37 goals in 54 matches for the Nerazzurri in all tournaments.
It now seems Belgium international’s come back to form after his difficult spell at Man United has seen a host of top clubs step up their interest in possibly signing him. The report focuses on Blaugrana’s possible pursuit of Lukaku, but the London giants are also mentioned as suitors for their former footballer.
The 27-year-old notably had a tough spell at Chelsea as a teenager, and it would be intriguing to see him return to his old club at this stage in his career. Blues arguably don’t really need the Belgian at the moment after spending big on attacking talent like Werner and Havertz this summer, but he could bolster the London giants.
With his scoring record and experience of playing in the PL, Romelu would no doubt be a great signing for Chelsea, though the player himself could also enjoy himself at Spain. Barca need a long-term replacement for Luis Suarez, and Romelu could relish that role upfront at Barcelona, where he’d likely get many opportunities created for him.
Abraham, meanwhile, no longer looks guaranteed a place at London club due to so much competition, and the young England international perhaps hasn’t done enough to show he should be playing regularly for such a big club.
