Chelsea join race to sign 28-year-old Croatia international

The London giants are hoping to hijack Inter Milan’s efforts to tie down Marcelo Brozovic to a new long-term deal. The Nerazzurri midfielder is an in-demand footballer in the Italian market as his current deal in Milan expires at the end of the campaign, putting a host of teams around Europe on red alert.

The report does add that Croatia international is keen on prolonging his remain at San Siro and keen on remaining in the city. The two sides are even set to hold negotiations over a possible new contract. But it appears the Blues are attempting a last gasp effort to lure Brozovic to English shores, though they do face competition from PSG.

Marcelo is no stranger to interest from the PL, though, having been linked with a move to Man United and Tottenham as well earlier this month. His vast experience at the highest level of football, coupled with his contributions to the Nerazzurri’s success, look to have made him an attractive option in the market.

Indeed, the 28-year-old midfielder has featured in over 250 competitive games for Inter Milan, notably helping them clinch the Scudetto last campaign. The Croatian midfielder was also involved in the national team that famously reached the final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The London club’s pursuit of Marcelo Brozovic, meanwhile, likely stems from the lack of depth in the ranks. While the likes of Jorginho and Kante have indeed been excellent, the Blues lacks viable alternatives for them. Not to mention, Jorginho’s agent did hint of a possible come back to Italy earlier this summer.
