Chelsea are looking to improve their midfield options at the end of the campaign. And the Blues have identified Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia as a possible target. U21 Belgium international has been an excellent player for the Saints this campaign, and he has the potential to develop into a top-class PL footballer in the near future.
Kante might leave Chelsea, either in January or once his contract expires in the summer. So the London giants will need to bring in a quality replacement. Lavia has the potential to thrive at a top team like the Blues, and it will be interesting to see if the London giants can agree on a deal with the Saints for the midfielder.
The chance to join the Blues could be a tempting proposition for Romeo, and a move to Chelsea could accelerate his development and help him fulfil his potential. Meanwhile, the London giants could lose footballers like Jorginho in the summer as well.
The Italian midfielder is also nearing the end of his deal, and Chelsea have not been able to agree on an extension with him yet. That leaves Graham Potter with Kovacic, Gallagher and Loftus-Cheek as the only other midfield options.
The Blues certainly have the financial resources to bring the Saints to the negotiating table. And it will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few months.
