Kenedy was believed to be close to making the switch to Championship side Reading on a season-long loan deal, after agreeing on a contract extension with the West London club, however, should Frank Lampard keep him at Stamford Bridge.
According to TalkReading on Twitter, Kenedy was keen on joining the Royals on a season-long loan before the transfer deadline, in what would be another surprising exit from the club, following David Luiz’s deadline day move to Stamford Bridge.
A move to Reading would certainly be a huge surprise given how his most recent loan season was in the Premier League with the Magpies last term, and while he would almost certainly be guaranteed first-team football with the Royals, he has ended up for staying at Stamford Bridge. However, the Blues are still capable of agreeing on a loan deal for Brazilian wing-back if offers arrive from abroad.
Though the Brazilian defender has struggled for consistency at Newcastle United, he is clearly a talented player on his day, and is clearly rated at Stamford Bridge given the fact that he signed a contract extension, however, he needs more regular time.
Lampard is already known for his desire to give younger players chance to impress this campaign and Kenedy is likely to remain at Stamford Bridge, and staying at the club this term will surely be more beneficial to Kenedy’s development.
