Thibaut Courtois has warned Chelsea’s chiefs that he will not sign a new contract and is set to join Real Madrid on a free transfer next year, according to reports from Spain. The Belgian star will only have a year left on his deal this summer and has claimed he will not consider signing an extension until the end of the season.
The Blues must now decide whether to sell the 25-year-old this summer or risk losing him for free at the end of next season. As Onda Cero claims, the goalkeeper has told the club that he has no intention to sign a new deal but is happy to see out his contract. The report adds that Courtois wants to join Los Blancos once he leaves Stamford Bridge.
Spanish giants are in the market for a new long-term replacement for Keylor Navas and Belgium international is on their shortlist along with David De Gea. Courtois’ family lives in Madrid and the Belgium international has admitted that returning to Spain would be the main reason behind his decision to not extend his deal with Premier League giants.
