Chelsea intend to offer a new deal for highly-rated defender Fiyako Tomori according to the Goal reports.

Premier League outfits, Everton tried to secure the services of the 21-year-old defender on a season-long loan during the deadline. However, the West London club blocked the move after David Luiz has made a switch to Arsenal.

New boss Frank Lampard, who signed Tomori on loan at Derby during his time in the Championship back in 2018/19, believes the centre-back is ready to compete for a regular first-team role at Stamford Bridge this season.

And Chelsea will move quickly to secure their academy graduate’s future by offering him a fresh contract.

Tomori’s current contract expires in summer of 2021. However, he should follow in the footsteps of Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek in signing of contract extension.

Meanwhile, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has already told team owners that he wants his first signing to be Ben Chilwell when the transfer ban ends.

Chelsea have been unable to register any new players this summer after being handed with a two-window transfer ban.

FIFA have prevented the West London club from registering new players as the Blues have managed to sign only Mateo Kovacic who has also spent last campaign at Stamford Bridge.

And new head-coach Frank Lampard has had to make do with the team that was already there and the USA international forward Christan Pulisic – who was signed before the ban was enforced.

However, there are areas of the side that the Blues legend would like to strengthen with some marquee signings expected to arrive at Stamford Bridge after the end of the transfer ban.
