Chelsea are targeting Philippe Coutinho as a replacement for Eden Hazard, who has sparked fresh speculation surrounding his future this week by admitting that he has already opted whether or not he will leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.
Chelsea will be forced to decide the Belgium international will only have a year left on his deal this summer. The west London club will demand more than £100 million for the 28-year-old, and they have already secured the signing of Christian Pulisic in a £58 million deal from Borussia Dortmund.
The Independent claims Chelsea are also keeping tabs on Coutinho with the view of potentially making a move in the summer.
The Brazilian star has struggled to make an impact at Camp Nou since his £142 million move from Liverpool just over a year ago. And reports in Spain have suggested that the 26-year-old will assess his options at the end of the season.
When asked about potentially leaving the Catalan giants, Coutinho said in an interview with beIN Sports last week that nobody knows what will happen in the future and he only wants to work hard to prove Ernesto Valverde what he is worth.
Former Liverpool No.10 has struggled during the whole season along with Ousmane Dembele as the duo failed to prove the manager that they deserve more playing time and a spot in the starting XI.
The 26-year-old would be perfect replacement for Eden Hazard who was hugely disappointed with a loss at Etihad Stadium.
