European giants may abandon their pursuit of £200,000-a-week Man United star

Inter owner Steven Zhang has serious doubts regarding the club’s ongoing pursuit of Manchester United centre-forward Romelu Lukaku according to the latest report from an Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The Belgian star is seemingly Inter Milan’s number one transfer target but the club have faced a great deal of difficulty when it comes to negotiating with the EPL club, who are calling for €85 million.

The 26-year-old star has an agreement in principle with Nerazurri over personal terms and it remains to be seen if Antonio Conte’s side will be able to get a move done for him.

Mauro Icardi’s sale would surely help Inter but at the moment there’re no offers for the Argentine star, who has been told his long-term future lies away from Milan.

The report from the Rome based outlet go on to report that Inter Milan board have begun to draw up some alternatives in the event they’re forced to abandon the idea of landing Lukaku.

Atalanta forward Duvan Zapata is plan B. The Colombian striker, who had his breakout campaign last season, would cost approximately half of what the Red Devils management are wanting for Lukaku.

Valencia star Rodrigo is another idea whilst RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner was, but the German has promised himself to the flagman of German football, Bayern Munich.
