Garth Crooks has reported that Watford attacker Gerard Deulofeu could be on Arsenal’s radar in his BBC Sport Team of the Week and that Hornets boss Quique Sanchez Flores should substitute Unai Emery.
25-year-old was the architect of Watford’s excellent 2-0 win away at newly-promoted Norwich City on Friday night. The £11.5million joining(Guardian) scored his second of the campaign and created Watford’s second.
The former Everton attacker caught Emi Buendia napping in the early steps of the match, stealing possession before slotting an extraordinary solo run and shot past Tim Krul. His cross was expertly turned into the net by Andre Gray in the second half.
Sanchez Flores has turned to Watford after being harshly fired back in 2016 and Friday night’s win was his first of his second term. Crooks thinks winger Deulofeu, and indeed boss Flores should be eyed by Arsenal.
“I think Watford are very lucky to have Quique Sanchez Flores at the helm considering the way he was unceremoniously sacked during his first spell at the club,” Crooks said. “The Hornets have been threatening to win away from home under Flores.
“They did it quite comprehensively against Norwich. The reason was Gerard Deulofeu. When the Spaniard is in this mood, he’s almost unplayable. Deulofeu should be playing for Arsenal and Quique Flores managing them.”
