According to reports, Manchester United want to sign Jonny Evans in January transfer window and willing to spent £20million to beat Manchester City and Arsenal to his signature.
Northern Ireland international Evans came from United’s academy over the years ago before going on to play almost 200 games for the club’s first-team.
Evans was a first-choice player for United for the best part of ten years and helped the club win three Premier League titles. He was surprisingly traded to West Brom in 2015 for just £8m while Louis van Gaal was in charge.
Evans’ fate at the Hawthorns has been the case of much speculation, and the 29-year-old could be on the move during the January transfer window.
Relegation-battlers West Brom are urgent to hold his assistance and have put a new £100,000-a-week contract on the table.
But the Daily Mirror claim the Baggies know they will be made to listen to proposals unless he puts pen to paper on a new contract imminently.
Man City and Arsenal both showed interest in signing Evans last summer and, at the time, West Brom hit a £30m price tag on his head.
But now United have joined the race to secure his signature, with Mourinho hoping to seal a deal to bring Evans back to the Theatre of Dreams.
