Manchester United and Arsenal are reportedly leading the race to sign Brazil star Fred – with Shakhtar Donetsk ready to listen to offers.
Playing over 140 games since signing from Sports Club Internacional in 2013, Fred has become a key player for Donetsk over the past four years but is being strongly linked with a January move.
Having been initially reluctant to sell the 24-year-old, Donetsk are now open to offers, hinting interest from some European clubs.
The likes of Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have been linked with moves but the Daily Star say Premier League rivals United and Arsenal are frontrunners to secure his signature.
Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger are both keen to reinforce their options during the January transfer window and Fred, who is contracted to Donetsk until 2021 and evaluated at £30million, has been identified as a top target.
English top-flight leaders Manchester City have also expressed interest in Fred, but United and Arsenal are said to be at the front of the queue.
Meanwhile, Spanish clubs Sevilla and Valencia are both showing an interest, but United would have no problem beating the wages on offer at either of those clubs.
