Juventus in the hunt for €50m-rated Arsenal long-term target

Juventus has reopened negotiations with Lyon over Arsenal target, Houssem Aouar this summer. Houssem appears to be on his way to London as Arsenal have presented themselves as his most serious suitors. Arsenal has already seen a €35m bid for him rejected by the Les Gones and they are expected to return with an improved offer soon.

However, Bianconeri might hijack their move for Aouar. France international impressed for Ligue 1 giants as they knocked the Old Lady out of the UCL in the round of 16 stages last campaign. They also eliminated Man City in the quarter-finals before they lost to the Bavarians in the semi-final.

Gunners agreed on a deal for one of their transfer targets on deadline day, snapping up Thomas Partey, but fellow midfielder Aouar stayed at the French club. Houssem his senior international debut on Wednesday, playing 59 minutes for Les Bleus in their 7-1 victory over Ukraine, and spoke to the media about Gunners interest.

“I’m happy to stay at Lyon,” Houssem said. “It’s my city, it’s my club. It gives me immense pride to represent Lyon. It wasn’t really Arsenal or nothing else, although, in the end, it was close to that. Really, a choice had to be made and I’m happy to stay here.”

Aouar has played four times for Lyon in Ligue 1 this campaign, scoring in a 1-1 draw with Marseille, and has spoken of his “great pride” at continuing to work with Lyon’s sporting director and former attacker Juninho.
