La Liga outfits Athletic Bilbao centre-back Aymeric Laporte has revealed that he rejected the chance to sign Premier League giants Chelsea and Manchester UnitedManchester City and Chelsea during the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old French is a regular in the football gossip columns, as hosts of European clubs have expressed interest in his signature, Athletic Bilbao are believed to demanding at least 50m for Laporte, but the player himself is believed to be keen on to remain with the Basque club.
Ex-France Under-21s international Laporte has recently revealed that there was concrete interest from the hosts of European clubs during the summer transfer window, but he didn’t feel that it was time to leave the Bilbao and decided to remain at the club.
Asked by L’Equipe about the links to City and Chelsea, he said: “I had the chance to leave but I did not feel it. Also because I was injured and did not want to leave so. Chelsea’s interest? I can not say anything, it’s a personal thing.”
Laporte has been with the Atletic club since 2010, this term he has featured in all eight games for the Spanish side and playing a vital role for their backline.
