Ligue 1 giants keeping tabs with 22-year-old Chelsea centre-back

Stade Rennais want Chelsea to include Fikayo Tomori as part of their agreement to sign Edouard Mendy, according to reports in France. The London giants are understood to be closing in on a £26m move for Senegal international. Ligue 1 giants initially asked Chelsea to offer €40m, plus Olivier Giroud on loan for the campaign, for Edouard.

Blues, however, rejected the deal as Frank Lampard wants France international to stay part of his squad. The French club stay keen on signing a Blues defender on loan and their latest request is for Fikayo to be included in the deal.

Tomori, who is also wanted on loan by Everton, could struggle to secure regular game time this campaign following Blues decision to add Thiago Silva on a free transfer from PSG. England international is also competing for a place at the heart of Blues back-line with Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen and Kurt Zouma.

English manager, meanwhile, insists he is ‘very happy’ with Kepa Arrizabalaga, despite the Spaniard’s mistake which led to a goal in Blues 3-1 victory over Brighton on Monday evening. ‘I am very happy with Kepa,’ said the Blues boss. ‘With the shot, I’m not sure if he could’ve done any better.’

‘But I saw a bit more confidence in how he was playing. Kepa is here, he’s our keeper and I’m happy with him. If we are bringing in competition, it will be competition. That’s the nature of Chelsea and it goes throughout the squad.’
