Liverpool determined to sign €60m-rated Spain international

Liverpool will be prepared to offer Pablo Gavira a deal worth €9m per year to sign him from Barcelona in the summer transfer window. But the 17-year-old midfielder wants to stay at Catalan giants, even though the two sides are no closer to reaching an agreement over a new deal.

Gavira has grabbed his golden chance with both hands to establish himself as a crucial figure for club and country in the past year. Pablo made his first-team debut for the Blaugrana at the onset of the 2021/22 campaign amid a financial crisis at Catalan giants, with his exploits also earning him his bow for La Roja.

Spain international played 47 games for La Liga giants this past campaign, chipping in with two goals and six assists. But the Spanish midfielder’s Barcelona future is up in the air, as his deal runs out next year, and developments on the renewal front have been slow.

Such a situation has captured the attention of several high-profile teams around Europe, including Liverpool. The Reds did not bolster the midfield department last summer despite Wijnaldum’s departure as a free agent. Liverpool instead chose to promote Harvey Elliott as a teenager, a decision that seems well-founded.

But Milner is in the twilight of his career and will not be a regular fixture for the Reds next campaign despite signing a new one-year deal. In addition, Henderson and ex-Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara are both on the wrong side of 30.
