Liverpool star man Andrew Robertson has been identified as an ideal transfer target by Barcelona, but the Spanish champions know a deal will be almost impossible to do.
The Scotland international has been in fine form all season for the Merseysiders, providing 13 assists in all competitions as his side finished second in the Premier League and prepared to face Tottenham in the final.
Liverpool knocked Barcelona out of the Champions League, and the Catalans were impressed with Andrew Robertson’s performances. Mundo Deportivo reported that Barcelona believe the left-back would be an excellent long-term replacement for Jordi Alba and, ‘is at the level that Barcelona want.’
However, there would be massive stumbling blocks, and it is very unlikely that a bid would even get off the ground.
Andre Robertson is under contract until 2024, so the Reds would be under absolutely no pressure to offload, and his asking price would be over €50m (£43m).
Whatever fee Barcelona could agree with Liverpool, it is understood that they would have to add £100 million to it, thanks to a deal that was stuck when Philippe Coutinho moved from to Nou Camp.
The Daily Mail claimed that Liverpool managed to agree a £100 million premium on any player leaving for Barcelona up until 2020.
If Andrew Robertson is worth £43 million, then Barcelona would have to fork out £143 million for the Scot, which seems very, very unlikely. The Spanish giants may well be fans of the Liverpool left-back, but he is not about to become a Barcelona player.
