Liverpool held negotiations with 22-year-old France international

Liverpool have been handed a major transfer boost after reports have emerged that Real Madrid won’t make a move for Auerlien Tchouameni this summer. The Merseyside giants’ pursuit of France international promises to be one of the transfer sagas of the off-season.

As one of the most sought-after young footballers in Europe this summer, if Liverpool were to pull off the £59m acquisition of the Monaco midfielder, it would be a huge achievement.

Los Blancos were seen as the favourite for Tchouameni, but La Liga giants won’t make a move for the midfielder this summer unless there is outgoing transfer business at Real Madrid. This could give the Reds a clear run to add Aurelien.

The Reds have emerged as the front-runners for the 22-year-old midfielder. They explained that Real Madrid, who were seen as the favourites for this signature, are happy with their midfield options and have decided to postpone their bid to add the French midfielder for another campaign.

It was ‘advantage Liverpool’ in the battle for the Frenchman. Further reports coming out of France are suggesting that a deal is close as the Reds remain ‘ideally placed’ to acquire the former Bordeaux midfielder. The same report also says that joining Liverpool is thought to be ‘a priority’ for Tchouameni.

Despite the hugely successful season it has been for Liverpool, work continues in the background to prepare for the next campaign, and the acquisition of Aurelien would be an impressive start.
