Jules Kounde has popped up on the radar of the Merseyside giants over a move in the winter transfer window. Liverpool are prepared to shell out €90m to secure the services of the Sevilla centre-back, a target for Real Madrid and Chelsea.
France international has become one of the most highly-rated centre-backs in Europe since joining La Liga giants from Bordeaux in summer 2019. Kounde has established himself as one of the best centre-backs in Spain in the last two and a half years while also establishing a foothold in the Les Bleus side.
Jules has played 113 games for the Spanish club to date, with his stock constantly rising during this time. The 23-year-old defender’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with some of the biggest teams in Europe, including Real Madrid, Chelsea and Liverpool.
Real Madrid and Chelsea hold a long-standing interest in the French defender, having been linked with him last summer. The Blues, in particular, seemed to be close to signing the Frenchman, but a move failed to materialise. The interest from the Reds is surprising, considering they signed Konate last summer.
With the French centre-back showing promising signs thus far, there does not appear to be any need for the Reds to enter the transfer market.
However, Liverpool are prepared to launch the offensive for Jules over a winter move, with a €90m offer readied. The Reds’ readiness to trigger Jules’ €90m release clause should put Real Madrid and Chelsea on the back foot.
